Battle of the Books is a cooperative effort between Inglewood, Rose Hill, Kirkland, Finn Hill, Kamiakin, Renaissance, Evergreen, Redmond, Stella Schola, International Community and Timberline Middle Schools. This program allows 6th, 7th, and 8th graders in each school to work together as a team and challenge other schools to correctly answer questions about the selected books. The goal is to encourage students at all reading levels to engage in teamwork while reading some of the best in children’s literature. Challenge questions are based on specific and factual information within the books.
Permission Forms are available in September.
Submissions are closed for this year.
The building challenge will be held in February 2023 with the top team from each middle school proceeding to the Lake Washington School District challenge in early March.

Congratulations to the IMS Battle of the Books Team—Chaos Theory. They placed third with 37 points at the LWSD Battle of the Books District Championships. The second-place finishers had 38 points and the winning team had 40. The IMS team consists of: Krithi Suhas (Captain), Thanya Ganta, Hansika Sree Prabhakaran, Srinidhi Shivaji, Maya Venkataramanan, and Devika Pillai. This is a great group of readers who read 12 books closely for detail.
Also, a nod to the other eight teams and 55 students of IMS who battled regularly on Tuesdays during FLEX. These amazing students focused on the 12 books of the LWSD Battle of the Books program for 2023. Lastly, a shoutout to Camille Hutchens, Shambhavi Gautam, Arthur Toland-Barber, and Neri March who helped judge our school’s BoB competition. And to Katja Wright and Briana Vallene who judged the regular battles all season long while Mrs. Stroup announced the questions.
